I'm going to make a concerted effort to post more often, I'd hate to see this site vanish though lack of interested people :(

Re: It's not about the act

individual: You seem to be equating masturbation & sex with sexual attraction. I'd be interested to find out why - it flies in the face of everything I've known and experienced so far in my life. It's perfectly possible to do an act that you have no particular taste for any number of reasons, no...

Re: Pre-asexuality views on sex?

For me, I didn't really think anything about sex at all one way or the other, until I suddenly realised that nearly everyone else did , that suddenly thrust it into my mind. For a while I thought that I could somehow change my nature and I did try a few times to carry off a relationship, however it ...

Re: The Symbol for Aces

Whoa, I never knew the male and female symbols were the Mars and Venus symbols! I like the Mercury symbol--it's cute. I think this is a good symbol for asexuality: http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/the_love_pirate/cake.png I'm not a big fan of the triangle or heart either. When I posted about ...

I have to second the fact that I don't particularly use - or like - the slang term "ace" so it doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

Re: What utensil would you be?

See, setting too much store by tests and made up personality formulae is a bad idea, it doesn't tell you anything substantial. The last job I applied for (the company I am working for now) did it the traditional way - shorlisted people who applied by CV, invited the ones they liked (i.e ones that ha...

corkscrew. With one of those little knives for cutting the foil off. Seriously though if I got asked that I think I'd just get up and walk out. If they've got nothing better to do than ask silly questions at interviews, or worse still if they actually set store by that sort of nonsense it's not a co...

I only really go to that kind of place now and then, if I'm dragged there by a group. Then I spend the next three days replying to everything anyone says to me with "WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU. SPEAK UP" Much prefer bars where there's some music but not so that you can't hear yourself think. I...

Re: Moving House

I've moved before since I bought all this furniture, once to get away from a noisy building with no sound insulation, once because the water tank burst in the flat I was in, and now because I don't like the area I'm in. Still, I'm not renting the next place so until my personal situation changes or ...

Moving House

I think this is the most irritating and potentially stress-bringing thing I've done, I'd forgotten how annoying it could be. Everyone wants weeks of notice to cancel things like the telephone line, internet, gas & power supply, blah blah blah. Then there are so damn many documents to sign about ...

Re: Gay Blogger says Asexuals are "Disabled"

Ouch. Well, I find his whole response to be rather hypocritical. He says he's a gay-rights activist and has to put up with a lot of "shit" in his life, yet he goes and pretty much acts condescending to the asexual community. He says that he has the right to write his opinions on his blog....

I think it depends on whether you're talking about the relationship as a whole, or just the sex part. Let's say I'm me and I have a boyfriend who's highly sexual. I'm 24 and live below the poverty level while he's older and a millionare with a great job. He'd have more social power, and that might ...

I already feel like the odd man out. I despise tweed and teetotaling, and I am not a big fan of scrabble. Ah well so long as I'm not the only one ;) Drunken cuss-word scrabble though... Re: How far will you go to prove your asexuality?

I would have thought the best 'proof' of being asexual would be to be asexual without duress. If there was a bet riding on it, someone could always say you stayed asexual for the prize. You could pay someone enough money to do almost anything, that wouldn't be 'proof' it was in their nature.

it's a module for apache that lets you redirect URLs based on specific rules, so you could let links to old threads through, but links to searches and whatnot are directed to a page asking someone to update their bookmarks and then in 15 second send them on to their search or whatever. http://www.wo...

Depends how many tshirts you can print up cheaply I guess. Is there a local college or something that would let you use their screen printing stuff to hand-print single colour tshirts? screen printing is desperately easy to do and would look neat

Woo hoo, looks like I get to kick it off in here :) So.. I'm in my late 20s, living in the (currently) frozen wastelands of Scotland, and I suppose I've identified myself as "asexual" since about 2003 when I found AVEN. Before that I hadn't heard about asexuality and I thought I was mental...

The natural way is to resist change and protect the status quo, and following on from that to make a club that I can be in and you can't. I don't think we're going to get away from that until we get away from being human beings.
